Ellen Mitchell-Kozack applies a humanitarian and environmental lens to architecture to benefit clients, communities and the planet. She leads the firm’s strategic initiatives in Environmental Social & Governance, alignment with the UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals, carbon footprint assessment and social impact. As the HKS director of sustainability, Ellen led the DesignGreen studio and founded Citizen HKS, which is focused on leveraging sustainable design to address growing global humanitarian needs. She has managed certification of 60+ LEED projects worth $2.8B in construction. Ellen was named to Boutique Design’s “Heroes & Mavericks” list, is a BD+C 40 Under 40 winner and won Emerging Leader awards from AIA Dallas and Design Futures Council. She has presented at Greenbuild, NeoCon, AIA National Convention and SXSW Eco and has been featured in Healthcare Design, Dezeen, Fast Company, Architectural Digest and Designboom.
