Andrew is a hospital planner. Architecturally trained, Andrew finds his efforts are best spent working within large urban hospitals invested in optimizing care as rapidly as technology and methods are known to the field of healthcare. He strives to improve things like access not just through facility design and wayfinding, but by creating a participatory built environment that is intuitive and “connective” to those who use it. Accelerated by design responses to the pandemic, his internal role to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston is as much about operational process design as it is facility design. Andrew’s interest in signage and wayfinding carried him though several years supporting improvement efforts in several New England hospitals. Now as a primary contact for design innovation, Andrew owes his career to years of working with expert design professionals, regulatory leaders, care providers, hospital staff in just about every capacity, memorable patients and visiting families.
