We are on the road again! This time heading to the thriving city of Austin, Texas. The Symposium will celebrate 30 years in this must visit destination.
Let’s talk about why Austin makes sense from a healthcare construction stand point. Healthcare is one of Austin's largest and fastest-growing industries. The region is home to more than 4,200 healthcare employers. The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is a new teaching hospital that is changing the way medical students are trained. Top hospitals in the country such as Houston Methodist Hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Baylor University Medical Center are in Austin. Texas Society for Architects has over 6,500 members. Texas is one of top 3 healthcare markets in the country with more than 600 hospitals and a $15.8 billion medical construction pipeline.
Now that we’ve covered that, let’s talk about why everybody is looking for an excuse to visit Austin. The accolades are just pouring in for Austin - it was named one of The Best Cities in North America by Travel + Leisure, named America’s Next Boomtown by Forbes and named one of The 13 Hottest US Cities for 2016 by Business Insider. There are more than 200 restaurants, with a wide culinary range and many award-winning options. There are more than 250 live music venues. Finally, Austin ranks in the top 20 large cities with the most vibrant arts community in America, according to SMU’s National Center for Arts Research.
There is so much going on in Austin right now both from a healthcare and a cultural perspective and this year’s Symposium participants are going to be able to take advantage of both. We’ll continue the networking opportunities, world class educational program, inspiring keynotes, and new products on the show floor as well as the customer service that the Symposium is known for in this dynamic destination. And at the end of the day you’ll be within walking distance to Austin’s acclaimed 6th Street where you can hear live music, enjoy the burgeoning restaurant scene and the unique culture.
Stay tuned for information on this year’s conference program, registration and all the exciting things we have planned in Austin!
