In this program, architects and researchers Rebecca Milne and Scott Fallick team with Virginia Peragallo-Dittko, the Executive Director of NYU Winthropís Diabetes and Obesity Institute, to discuss the role of architecture in creating collaborative healthcare environments. This topic will be explored both within the broader context of the medical profession as well as through the lens of a project-specific study. The speakers will present the findings from a post-occupancy study of the recently-constructed NYU Winthrop University Hospital Research & Academic Center, a facility designed with the primary goal of encouraging collaboration. Leveraging the lessons learned from the challenges and successes of this project, the team will discuss why the solution to cultivating collaboration within a medical setting is more complex than simply providing the right physical spaceóand how architects and administrators can work together to build a thriving culture of collaboration.
