HEALTHCARE FACILITIES SYMPOSIUM & EXPO EXPERIENCES 38% ATTENDANCE GROWTH

30th ANNUAL EVENT THRIVES IN AUSTIN

AUSTIN, TX (September 28, 2017) – The Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo experienced tremendous growth during the 30th Annual Event held September 18-20, 2017 at the Austin Convention Center. Overall attendance was up 38% as architects, engineers, contractors, interior designers, artists and researchers from AEC firms, healthcare providers and education institutions from all over the country met in Austin. Exhibitors and sponsors were up 17% over 2016 setting up the event for even more exhibitor growth in 2018.

“Austin was such a great venue for us. We took our well renowned conference program, numerous networking opportunities and passionate followers and paired it with a $15.8 billion healthcare construction pipeline in Texas and ended up with an incredible turn out,” said Jenabeth Ferguson, Vice President, Symposium Director for JD Events producer of the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo.

HFSE is the healthcare construction event that is produced for the industry by the industry. The all-volunteer advisory board was in full force in Austin. One of the highlights was a last minute session they pulled together on disaster preparedness which was of course very timely. The session included representatives from Houston Methodist, University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Texas Department of State Health Services discussing preparedness and how the state functioned during past storms including most recently Hurricane Harvey.

“We have always been willing to partner with industry organizations that represent the breadth and diversity of our attendees and this year was no different. The Facilities Guidelines Institute in conjunction with the American College of Emergency Physicians held a highly interactive workshop focused on Reimagining the ED. The National Organization for Arts and Health held their inaugural conference with us which was a tremendous success and brought the arts front and center to all our attendees,” commented Ferguson.

HFSE prides itself in providing world class education and unique networking opportunities for all participants. “The HFSE is a great opportunity for networking and to build new relationships and catch up on old ones.” Greg Wellman, Director of Client Relations, CMTA Engineers. In addition, Jenabeth Ferguson says “there is a heart to the Symposium and it is demonstrated best by our annual raffle.” Since 2006 HFSE has held a raffle with 100% of the proceeds benefiting a worthy organization. This year that organization was Partners in Health which was chosen because of its connection to keynote speaker, Marika Shioiri-Clark, Principal, SOSHL Studio. The final donation is still being tallied but HFSE expects to make at least a $13,000 donation to Partners in Health thanks to the generosity of all the participants and sponsors.

Attendees and exhibitors were excited to hear that HFSE will be back in Austin in 2018. The dates are October 8-10, 2018.
